About the students' tuition
Students attending the teaching practice are helped to develop as well-rounded musicians through creative engagement with music which can be the springboard into an inspiring musical journey which allows students to find their own musical expression as musical understanding and achievement grow and as each individual develops at his or her own rate and direction
Tailored tuition to the needs of individual students to ensure musical development, enjoyment and success in achieving musical goals whether learning for pleasure or for exam grades – which can also be fun! And, where musical and technical developments go hand in hand in equipping the student with the tools to enable and fulfil their musical potential thus saving money on lessons in the long term
Students are taught and encouraged how to read music accurately and in-depth thus fostering musical independence, again, saving money on lessons in the long term
A good solid musical technique is taught as part of a comprehensive teaching plan and this can save the student money in the long term: it takes longer to correct a wrongly learned thing than it does to learn it correctly in the first place: this unfortunate scenario can be frustrating for the student and hard work for the teacher!
Help given through practice tips and problem-solving strategies that enable students’ home practice sessions to have direction and structure facilitating good musical progress
Students are prepared in lessons to meet musical challenges which they can replicate at home. Focus is also on easier tasks that consolidate skills and build both confidence and musicianship through interpretative, critical and creative skills with the use of imagination
Confidence and aspiration building and coaching given through musicianship, piano or singing technique and musical expression – open to all students
Students are helped to musically develop beyond their own expectations whatever their musical ability or musical background
Professional music advice, support and guidance always available
Absolute beginner and re-starter students are welcome for piano or singing tuition
Weekly or fortnightly lessons can be arranged

From the first lesson I knew Michael was the right teacher for me and that he would help me improve. Michael is an extremely talented, relaxed, caring and hard working teacher who helps you achieve your full potential. I would recommend to anyone who was looking to work hard and improve their musical skills to have lessons. I would also recommend Michael as a teacher as he works very hard and will help and support a student throughout their learning increasing their interest in music even further. He works at their pace and makes sure a student understands his teaching. He is an extremely capable teacher and all-round brilliant private music teacher.
Whilst trawling through numerous sites on the internet I came across Michael’s website and I have never seen anyone write about music so enthusiastically! I booked my first lesson and within minutes I could see that my search for a new teacher was over. I feel comfortable around Michael and have lessons on a regular basis and with Michael’s help and support I am beginning to believe in myself again and my confidence and passion in music which has been decreased by some other teachers through lack of understanding is now going from strength to strength. Michael always makes me feel at ease no matter how difficult I may be finding things and he always has a positive attitude. I always walk away from my lessons in a great mood knowing I have improved.
Even only after a couple of months of having lessons with Mike, I could see a massive improvement. I really enjoy my lessons because Mike is a great guy and he is really easy to get on with. With Mike’s help I know I can achieve my goals of being a successful performer.
I searched the internet for good quality tutors and found Mike’s website. Mike, his experience, qualifications, enthusiasm and great testimonials throughout his website inspired me! I feel very fortunate to have found such a wonderful tutor in Mike. He is very calm, patient and enthusiastic person and teaches step-by-step at a pace he knows you are comfortable with. Mike is a positive teacher and gives lots of encouragement.
I was very nervous when I started lessons but Michael put me at ease and is a patient teacher. Michael is very encouraging: he believes in my musical ability and has given me much more confidence.
Mike encourages you to have a good go at anything. When mistakes are made, he is patient and supportive showing you where you went wrong and, most importantly, how to improve.
As well as the practical, Mike shows a passion for the theoretical aspect of music. I quickly found myself enthused about the significance of understanding the music which I would love to play. Having achieved a Grade 5 Trumpet examination and a GCSE in Music when I was at school I thought I had a fairly good understanding of music theory. However, in just four lessons after starting with Mike I had a better understanding of music theory than I gained through years of previous study. This is a credential to Mike; he explains clearly how the music works, and has tools which clearly illustrate things which seem complex at first glance. If I had had this teaching when I played the trumpet I believe that I would have been a better musician.
I contacted Mike after a couple of bad experiences with other tutors and we arranged an introductory lesson. Mike is very professional and his drive, talent and passion for music have with each lesson gradually increased my confidence and self-belief.
Dr Michael Spacie is a superb tutor. His patient, professional and unrivalled knowledge of music twinned with his kind approach enables his students to develop their musical skills with enjoyment and confidence. My daughter Grace who is playing on the video recording at the foot of the Theory Page of this website was just 8 years old at the time of the recording and already demonstrates fine musical skills. The decision to entrust Dr Spacie with her musical education is by far the best decision we have made for her. I cannot recommend enough.
Since beginning lessons with Mike, I have seen a huge improvement to my performing ability.
I can undoubtedly say I know Mike will help me develop and progress my musical ability further.
Since I have been working with Michael I have become a lot more confident in my singing and my performing; he is a great teacher and I thoroughly enjoy every lesson and I learn a lot. The lessons are very professional and he is very relaxing and funny and I believe that I’ve never met a better teacher.
I would highly recommend Michael to anyone; I am more comfortable than I have ever been with anyone before.
I have been studying Performing Arts for many years and music means the world to me: it is my only passion and I really want performing to be my future occupation. I believe that given Michael’s outstanding teaching skills I can achieve that goal.

Whilst browsing the internet I found Michael's website where I read through on the Piano, Singing, Standards and Teaching Pages the testimonials he had received from students. After I absorbed the outstanding reviews, I couldn't wait to book my first lesson. Contacting Michael was easy and a very pleasant experience.
In general, I am quite a nervous person and find it difficult to relax around people; however, when I attend my lessons with Michael I feel free and at ease to be open about my opinions and express myself clearly. My lessons are not only helping me to be attuned with music, they are also helping me to develop myself personally, which is to my delight.
The quality of the learning environment is wonderful and very relaxed. There is nothing I've experienced that is more rewarding or enriching.
Michael is such an enthusiastic person. He makes me feel, without a doubt, capable of one day achieving a good standard. If you have a genuine love for music, I can't imagine a better environment to learn in, or tutor to be directed by.
I knew instantly that Mike would teach me correctly. He has fantastic patience and makes you feel very relaxed and welcome. Mike is always professional and his talent and passion for music always show.
